WHY USE ALTERNATIVE MEDIA

To reach a large audience you may need to continue using the mainstream media.

But here is why we suggest that you also use alternative social media (see note at bottom of this page).

The major commercial social media are controlled as follows.

META

According to Wikipedia, "Meta Platforms, Inc. (doing business as Meta) is an American multinational technology company headquartered in Menlo Park, California. Meta owns and operates several prominent social media platforms and communication services, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Threads. The company also operates an advertising network for its own sites and third parties; as of 2023, advertising accounted for 97.8 percent of its total revenue. Meta has been described as a part of Big Tech, which refers to the largest six tech companies in the United States, Alphabet (Google), Amazon, Apple, Meta (Facebook), Microsoft, and Nvidia, which are also the largest companies in the world by market capitalization."

The Chief Executive officer of META is Mark Zuckenberg, a billionaire who supports American President Donald Trump.

The Wikipedia article includes extensive references to lobbying, censorship, disinformation, misinformation, hate speech and lawsuits concerning META.

LINDEDIN AND TWITTER

Linkedin is owned by Microsoft since 2016. As mentioned above, Microsoft is one of the largest companies in the world. According to several sources, Linkedin conducts illegal spying on its users computers. Here is a quote from a source called Browsergate: "LinkedIn Is Illegally Searching Your Computer . . . Every time any of LinkedIns one billion users visits linkedin.com, hidden code searches their computer for installed software, collects the results, and transmits them to LinkedIn servers and to third-party companies including an American-Israeli cybersecurity firm. . . . This is illegal and potentially a criminal offense in every jurisdiction we have examined."

Twitter (X) was bought in 202 by Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, a South-African white supremacist and supporter of American President Donald Trump. Here is a quote from the wikipedia article about this social network: " Since his acquisition, the platform has been criticized for enabling the increased spread of disinformation and hate speech and accused of becoming increasingly right-wing and catering to hate groups."

You may also wish to use an alternative search engine instead of Google. We use DuckDuckGo.
Unfortunately, according to the source called softmaker , most alternative search engines are not completely independent since they use results from Google or Microsoft Bing.

As for which are the best alternative social media, we will treat this topic on a separate page that is still in construction.
